Four Ferries in Irkutsk Region
The Eastern Siberian Inland Navigation Company’s ships had their last trip for the directions ‘Irkutsk – Bolshiye Koty’ and ‘Bratsk – Irkutsk’ on September, 25th this year. Thus, passenger navigation season on Lake Baikal and the Angara River can be considered closed.
The period of cargo fleet navigation closure will depend on the weather. The Eastern Siberian Inland Navigation Company intends to have suspended 2011 freight traffic by the end of November.
In addition to this, Irkutsk Region has the following current ferries including ‘Sakhurte Village – Olkhon Island’, ‘Listvyanka Village – Port Baikal’, ‘Balagansk - Igzhey’, ‘Svirsk - Kamenka’. ‘Sakhurte Village – Olkhon Island’ Ferry will have been available till December, 15th; ‘Balagansk - Igzhey’, December, 31st; ‘Svirsk - Kamenka’, November, 15th. ‘Listvyanka Village – Port Baikal’ Ferry is available summer and winter alike.
